Advisory Structure

The Primary Care Office engages medical and healthcare experts from local academics and professional organizations to formulate reference frameworks and promote the Primary Care Directory through the following advisory bodies:

(I) Advisory Committee on Primary Care Directory

Terms of Reference

To advise the Department of Health on the continual development and maintenance of the Primary Care Directory, which serves the following functions:

  • to facilitate the public to identify locally registered primary care doctors, dentists and Chinese medicine practitioners who suit their individual needs; and
  • to act as a platform to encourage professional development and quality assurance in primary health care.

(II) Advisory Groups on Reference Frameworks

There are three Advisory Groups:

  • Advisory Group on Hong Kong Reference Framework for Preventive Care for Older Adults in Primary Care Settings
  • Advisory Group on Hong Kong Reference Framework for Preventive Care for Children in Primary Care Settings
  • Advisory Group on Hong Kong Reference Framework for Care of Diabetes and Hypertension in Primary Care Settings

Terms of Reference

To support the Department of Health on issues related to the Hong Kong Reference Frameworks, including:

  • To develop new modules under the respective Reference Framework;
  • To update the Reference Framework based on the latest available evidence; and
  • To facilitate promulgation and adoption of the Reference Framework.
